WSOP 2015 - overall thoughts

Overall Thoughts:

1. It is great to record the first WSOP cash! It only took 9 tries over 4 years.
2. It is great to have cashed in 2 MTTs on this trip.
3. It is also weird to not have a bubble in 2 consecutive MTTs. There were a lot of similarities with how both tournaments ended up. Examples: Hero had to pay blinds multiple times in a row due to table breaking. Hero played well and was making moves.

4. Hero should try to get in more cash game volume when possible. It seemed a bit light.
5. Hero will try to avoid playing PLO8 SNGs if not early in the night. They did not seem soft prior to the 3k PLO8, although it sounds like it was softer earlier in the day. Additionally, 2-7 TD SNGs and 10 game SNGs were non-existent. The buyin might be so low that people refuse to populate the SNGs.
6. Taking a ton of notes helped keep hero engaged. Trying to do a mini-HUD became too cumbersome and hero will not try a HUD again.
7. Hero needs to learn to get more sleep and sleep earlier.
8. Hero tensed up and got nitty in spots in 10 game mix with short stack where hero would probably steal and/or defend. Hero needs to continue to work more on various limit games.

9. Hero was able to grab 7 $10 food comps via minimal cash game time at the Rio. Periodically stopping by and getting to know the floors was the best way. Once they recognized hero came daily, they were very amenable to giving food comps.
10. Hero got to meet the Venetian Poker Room tournament director (Tommy). He was very generous and gave hero a jacket! Hero also helped out Venetian with some social media tweets. Hero was able to get some other Venetian poker gear too. Hero now has a school sized backpack and jacket from Venetian.

11. Unfortunately, hero's flight was delayed 4.5 hours due to mechanical problems. Unfortunately, hero only found out after hero sprinted to the airport and was notified at the gate that flight was delayed from 30 minutes and multiple delays until 3.5 hours. Eventually, passengers boarded, but a warning light forced the plane back to the gate and an additional 1 hour delay. Hero went from a 11:45PM return home to 3:50AM.
12. Since it was Father's Day on a southwest flight, 1 free drink! Since we were delayed, we were pretty much given "unlimited drinks" + $100 travel voucher. Hero was able to smuggle a Bailey's off the plane (50 mL).

13. Hero found possibly the fastest dealer (dealer with the fastest pitch). His speed was 2.5x faster than anyone hero had ever seen. The dealer said he was a former college baseball prospect (LHP with 90 MPH fastball). Pretty sick.
14. Best license plate ever for a poker player (sorry for flash blur due to night photo on iPod Touch).
