It may eventually evolve into my live poker, online poker, and jazz musician/pianist blog...
Feedback and discussion is always welcome as I'm always trying to improve. I'm a learner, not a grinder!
Poker Career Bio:
May 2006 - Online Career v1: I initially sold play chips on
PokerStars to build my online bankroll. I grinded a lot of the micro-MTTs (any
MTT < $5 was fair game - NLHE for the "lottery/big cash", non-NLHE
for the more often decent score) + Sunday Hundred Grand MTT satellites for a
couple years, but decided to take a break from poker in 2008.
Feb 2009 - Live: I restarted my poker career when I got
invited to a weekly small stakes home cash game. I started regularly playing
charity poker cash games (NLHE mainly) until about Aug 2010.
Dec. 2009 - Online Career v2: After initial deposit on FTP
in Dec. 2009, I focused on micro/small stakes NLHE & PLO8 cash with some
PLO and Stud/8. I periodically play mixed games and the occasional donkament
(like mini-FTOPS)...Rush Poker (50plo8) was my ticket to FTP's Black Card in
Feb. 2011, but unfortunately never got a physical copy before Black Friday.Dec 2010 - My 2nd poker trip (2 weeks) to New Orleans and Atlantic City.
May 2011 - Online Career v3: As US Citizen after Black Friday, I'm back on the Merge (RPM) network since May 2011. 50/50 focus on PLO8/PLO.
Dec 2011 - First in a series of live MTT travels. It's been great to use poker as an excuse/avenue for traveling.
Jan 2012 – Online: 75/25 focus on PLO/PLO8.
May 2012 - Live: I try to play regularly (1x/week) at Horseshoe Cleveland. The focus is mainly PLO, but will play PLO8 if it gets off the ground. I’ll sometimes play NLHE too.
Dec 2013 - Online: With Merge's traffic slowing, I've deposited money on Bovada. I'm spending a lot of time on limit games (stud8, stud) since the initial deposit bonus tends to clear faster. Unfortunately, there's a learning curve in the limit games. I'm still playing PLO and PLO8, but not as much initially.
Overall, I'm still spending 80-90% of my time playing cash games (PLO, PLO8), but play MTTs to prepare for live MTTs and online MTT series. My career is headed towards mixed games and trying to improve my overall thought process & mental game across all poker disciplines.
