---------------
Due to unexpected Day 3 for hero, hero is forced to rebook hotel and flight.
Hero's tweet before tournament:
I am fortunate and thankful to be in this spot in day 3. There is a lot to go and many challenges ahead.

Unfortunately, hero is unable to rebook anything that night, which causes hero to not sleep very well.
Hero falls standard routine, but shows up 4 minutes late.

Hero notices an info sheet that can be filled out to provide more information about hero on live reporting. Hero thinks about filling it out, but hero does not actually fill it out.

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. Hero tries to isolate with weak KKxx with A4 low.
Flop: Standard. Hero could gamble in this spot to try to eliminate opponent, but Hero still has Vil4 to act behind hero.

---------------
Level 22 - Blinds: 8000/16000

Hero dealt in BB: Ax Qh 5x 4x

Read: Vil6 seemed to be playing really weak tight.
(7 handed, Seats 4 and 8 are empty)
Preflop:
Vil6 (HJ, 142k): raises to 42000
(folds to Hero)
Hero (BB, 300k): folds

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. Hero may be ok with trying to gamble preflop, but Vil6 seemed really weak/tight and may only be raising AAxx or strong A2B/A3B hands. Hero decides to wait for a better spot.

---------------
Hero dealt in But: Ad 5s 4h 3c

(7 handed, Seats 4 and 8 are empty)
Preflop:
(folds to Vil7)
Vil7 (HJ): raises to 32000

Analysis:

Flop: Standard. Even if hero did not have nut low + wheel wrap, hero can bet this flop as a bluff (or turn if it checks to hero on the turn).

Link: http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/update/1QSV/kenneth-po-wins-a-three-way-pot/

---------------
As play continues, hero observes action at other table. One player (James A. in Texas Longhorns gear), talks to hero and asks about one player who seems to be taking a while on every action. This player was moved from hero's table to other table to rebalance when there were 14 or so (IIRC).
Hero gives analogy to "Ken Griffey Jr." which James remembers in the future.

Additionally, Mike Matusow makes another appearance on scooter and talks to seat 2 for a while. Mike does not remember hero from day 1 (which is not surprising).

Another PLO8 reg (Nathan W.) introduced himself and wished hero good luck.

---------------
Hero may have had 1-2 SB/BB battles where hero raised preflop and Vil2 folds.
There were other SB/BB battles where hero may have just folded to the BB.

---------------
Hero dealt in SB: Ac Jx 9x 2c

(6 handed, Seats 3, 4, and 8 are empty)
Preflop:
(folds to Hero)
Hero (SB): calls
Vil2 (BB): checks

(2 players - 32000 in pot)
Flop: Qs 2c 3c
Hero: checks
Vil2: checks

(2 players - 32000 in pot)
Turn: Qs 2c 3c 9s
Hero: bets 26000
Vil2: calls

(2 players - 84000 in pot)
River: Qs 2c 3c 9s Jh
Hero: bets 45000
Vil2: calls

Vil2: shows Qx 9x 3x 2x

Vil2: wins pot

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. Hero starts to try to limp entire playable range. Hero starts strategy after possibly making a mistake raising earlier in a SB/BB battle as SB.
Flop: Standard. Hero has little equity with counterfeited nut low.
Turn: Standard. Hero has 2 pair which may be best. Hero bets for value. Vil2's calling range looks like low draws + bad pair, 2 pairs, and some flush draws.
River: Standard. Hero bets better 2 pair for value. Unfortunately, Vil2's hand is near top of range.

---------------
Hero dealt in CO: As Kx Qx Js

(6 handed, Seats 3, 4, and 8 are empty)
Preflop:
(folds to Hero)
Hero (CO): raises to 34000
(other players fold)

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard.

---------------
Hero dealt in But: Ad Tx 7x 2d

(6 handed, Seats 3, 4, and 8 are empty)
Preflop:
(folds to Hero)
Hero (But): raises to 34000
(other players fold)

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard.

---------------
Hero's stack at Level 23 break (Blinds: 10000/20000) - 256000

---------------
During break, one of hero's poker/PLO8 friends (Greg E.) walks around with hero and offers to listen and give advice on any questions that hero has.
Hero discusses SB/BB battle from earlier. Greg E. gave some good feedback on the hand and said it may have been a small mistake to bet the river. It would probably have been better to let Vil2 bluff missed draws.

Greg E. also provides guidance through text messages on small blind ranges and generally limping entire range, while limp/reraising strongest hands.
Hero is very thankful for this advice.

---------------
Level 23 - Blinds: 10000/20000

Hero dealt in CO: As 8c 4c 2c

(6 handed, Seats 3, 4, and 8 are empty)
Preflop:
Vil4 (UTG): raises to 45000
(folds to Hero)
Hero (But): calls
Vil2 (SB): folds
Vil4 (BB): calls

(3 players - 145000 in pot)
Flop: Ts 6c 4d
Vil2: bets 126000 (all in)
Vil4: thinks for a bit (slightly more than normal time), then folds
Hero: thinks for a bit, then calls

Vil4: shows 8h 7s 5c 3c

(2 players - 397000 in pot, 1 player all in)
Board: Ts 6c 4h 6d 4s

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. Hero is somewhat concerned about a squeeze from SB or BB, but neither player had squeezed in 2+ levels.
Flop: Standard, but it was a little close and hero needed to do math to double check.
Hero's needed equity = (amount to call)/(pot size + villain's bet + amount to call)
Hero's needed equity = 126000/(145000+126000+126000)
Hero's needed equity = 31.73%

Even against worst case scenario of {set + nut low draw), hero has 25% equity. Against a bad hand like AT2x, hero has ~31% equity.

Basically, hero has enough equity even against worse case scenarios. Fortunately, hero's actual equity against this hand is much higher (hero is slight favorite). Hero also scoops (204/820) = 24.8% of time.

Play stops. The unofficial final table of 10 is formed.
It is placed at ESPN Final Table 1.

All the chairs are draped with black.
Unfortunately, there are 3 other final tables occurring at the same time, so the final table was not going to be live streamed.

The final table would be tight fitting since it normally fits 9 players (while unofficial final table is 10 players).

Hero was talking about how he wasn't able to get an "all in triangle" when at EPT.
One of the dealers at the start of the final table was kind enough to put one on hero's chair and said to put it away. Hero is thankful to said dealer.

Hero noticed a print out listing all 10 players at final table and approximate chip counts.
Final Table Dealers are randomly selected based on dealing well and winning a raffle. There were 3 dealers that rotated in and out while the floor was assisting the televised tournament tables rather than hero's final table.

---------------
As final table starts, hero is able to talk to some friends who are railing.
Friends were able to give advice and/or previous experiences to hero:

Francis:
1. Seat 1 is likely inexperienced in PLO8. He may be playing really tight.
2. Seat 3 won HORSE event and is likely very experienced/tough player.
Sean:
1. Seat 2 was extremely loose and aggressive 4 handed in a PLO8 MTT at Venetian.

One of hero's friends offered to help refill water bottle for hero. Hero was thankful for gesture but declined. Hero wanted to stand up and move around.

2 1.25m younger male
3 580k younger/middle aged male (seat 4 from 2 tables left) - seemed to be deliberate and thorough with non-trivial decisions
4 1.03m older male with Texas Longhorns gear (James A.)
5 118k middle aged male
6 481k young/middle aged male wearing Oregon O (Ducks) gear and hoodie - Stephen J.
7 154k young/middle aged male who is slightly balding

10 720k younger male (sat with hero on day 1 at end of day in seat 6)

Note: This chip count may have been inaccurate. Hero's count as moving to final table was 488k assuming there was not lag.

Analysis:

Flop: Standard. There are too many players in pot to try to semi-bluff.
Turn: This is a tough spot. Although hero is last to act and has uncounterfeitable nut low, hero could be getting quartered. Vil10 was competent from previous history. Hero decides to fold instead of trying to win 5BBs (or spike a high hand that may cost hero more chips).

Analysis:

---------------
Level 24 - Blinds: 12000/24000

Hero dealt in UTG+1?: Ac Kx 6x 4c

Preflop:

(folds to Hero)
Hero: tanks for ~3-4 minutes, says it's ok to call clock, then folds
Vil4: says "If you took that long your hand was no good."

Analysis:
Preflop: Tough spot. Hero does have 3 low cards which helps hero's hand strength to avoid elimination. Ultimately, hero decides to fold and save chips for a better spot.

After the hand (and possibly off to the side away from table), Vil4 mentions AQQW (hero doesn't remember if it was a 3, 4, or 5).

Turn: Ac Qc Qd Td

Hero: bets 80000
Vil10: folds
Vil2: folds

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. Hero has great AAw hand in position.
Flop: Standard. Hero has board crushed and is trying to get value.
Turn: Standard. Hero tries to extract value on turn from a turned broadway straight or a player thinking a flush might be good. Hero's bet size seems ok, but hero needs to be careful about being consistent on lock down boards such as this one (full house on board, no low draw). Unfortunately, hero is unable to get any action.
There is some thought in just waiting until river and trying to get 1 street of value instead.

---------------
Hero's stack at Level 25 break (Blinds: 1500/30000) - 403000

---------------
Hero almost did not make it back in time after break. Luckily, Vil5 motioned to "hurry up" as hero was sprinting and out of breath. Hero was fortunate to make it in time to play his hand (before all hole cards were dealt).

---------------
During play, Vil6 talks about a mutual New Zealand friend who plays PLO8.
Hero then recalls that they met a couple years prior during break at one of the Venetian PLO8 MTTs. Hero remembers that both people graduated from the same university.

Hero joked that this should be put in the Case alumni magazine.

Hero is fortunate to have a number of friends join the rail.
Greg E.
Francis L. and girlfriend Sarah
Sean T. (Cleveland poker friend)

Hero reacquaints with 1 player from the Binion's PLO MTT.
Hero also reacquaints with Angela J. from day 1. She is most interested in railing seat 10.
One of hero's friends from EPT Malta also made a quick stop and wished hero good luck. He was mainly checking in to see seat 3's status.

---------------
Level 25 - Blinds: 15000/30000

Hero dealt in SB: Ax Qx 7x 2x

Preflop:
(folds to Vil7)
Vil8 (But, ~250k): raises to 100000
Hero (SB, ~400k): thinks for a bit, then folds
Vil10 (BB, 1.3m): folds

Analysis:
Preflop: Somewhat tight. Vil8 is playing tight and straightforward as a short stackc. Hero decides to fold because hero did not show initiative, is OOP, and there is a super small chance of a squeeze. This may have been a better spot to perhaps call and see a lot of flops if either player was deeper.

---------------
Hero sees a broadway board chop pot. But, hero's not sure if this just went unrecorded in the WSOP HH or if it may have been a miswritten note.

---------------
Hero dealt in UTG: Ad 7x 5x 3d

Preflop:

---------------
Hero dealt in UTG: Ac 8x 3x 2c

(8 handed)
Preflop:

Vil10 (UTG+1): calls

(2 players - 175000 in pot)
Flop: As Kx Ts
Hero: bets 90000
Vil10: folds

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard.
Flop: A bit risky, but there is fold equity with broadway board against PLO8 player who probably has a tighter range calling a UTG raise. Vil10 most likely has many low cards like hero. Hero probably check/folds on (T-K) and flushing turn cards.

At one point in tournament, hero's mindsight changed unexpectedly. Throughout most of day 2 and most of final table, hero was happy to be here.
Hero's mood changed for some reason with Vil5 continuing to stay alive and double/build chips. Hero rooted for elimination for the first time, realized his mental mistake, and refocused on efforts to play well and enjoy the experience.

Vil1 is eliminated in 8th shortly into Level 26.
Link:

Vil6 is eliminated in 7th about halfway through Level 26. Earlier, he mentioned that he would like to get an "official WSOP final table" after finishing 10th at the same event a couple years ago (2013).

---------------
Level 26 - Blinds: 20000/40000

Hero dealt in SB: As Kc 3s 2c

(6 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10)
Preflop:
(folds to Hero)
Hero (SB, ~400k): calls
Vil10 (BB, 1.4m): raises pot (120k total)
Hero: reraises pot
Vil10: reraises all in
Hero: calls

Vil10: shows Ad Kx 7x 2x

(2 players - in pot, 1 player all in)
Board: 4x 8x 3x 3x Qx

Hero: wins 3/4 pot
Hero's stack: ~700k

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. Hero runs up against top of villain's range, but hero is fortunate to get 3/4 pot.

Hero thanks Greg E. for advice and implementing it just a couple levels later.
Hero also apologizes to Vil10 for seemingly making his life hard throughout the tournament.

---------------
Level 26 - Blinds: 20000/40000

Hero dealt in BB: Ax Qx 6x 3x

Read: Vil3 was positionally aware over the ~7-8 levels of play with hero.
(6 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10)
Preflop:
(folds to Hero)
Vil3 (HJ): raises to ~100k
Hero (BB): folds

Analysis:
Preflop: Without any suits, this is a moderately tight fold. Vil3 was opening a pretty normal (tight) opening range. Hero was a bit concerned about playing OOP against this player, but hero probably should have taken a flop.

---------------
Level 26 - Blinds: 20000/40000

Hero dealt in HJ: Ax Kx 6x 4x

Read: Vil5 seemed to be playing tight. Hero had been fairly tight too.
(6 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10)
Preflop:
Vil5 (UTG): raises to 80k
Hero (HJ): tanks, folds

Analysis:
Preflop: A fold seems best. A call could be made since hero perceives an edge against player, but hero does not have great nut potential in either direction, and it could be a multiway pot. Hero could also try to reraise and get fold equity.

---------------
Hero's stack at Level 27 break (Blinds: 25000/50000) - ~500k (hero did not write down chip count)

---------------
At dinner, some of hero's friends offered to help buy food, etc..., so hero can relax. Hero was thankful for the offer to help, but decided to run solo to help with focus.

As it turns out, Vil5 almost did not make it back in time for the final table restart after dinner. Hero was able to return the favor and motion to Vil5 that he should hurry up, lest he miss a hand as well.

Hero was not feeling super well throughout the day. Hero wanted to try to nap and/or relax during break and was able to pray/calm down before play resumed.

---------------
Updated Final Table Chip Counts and Reads (Table ESPN FT1):

1 *eliminated in 8th
2 ~1.87m younger male
3 ~450k younger/middle aged male (seat 4 from 2 tables left) - seemed to be deliberate and thorough with non-trivial decisions
4 ~510k older male with Texas Longhorns gear (James A.)
5 ~400k middle aged male
6 *eliminated in 7th
7 *eliminated in 10th
8 *eliminated in 9th
9 ~490k hero
10 ~1.5m younger male (sat with hero on day 1 at end of day in seat 6)

---------------
Hero has played fairly tight for the most part.

---------------
Level 27 - Blinds: 25000/50000

Hero dealt in CO: As Qx 5s 4x

(6 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10)
Preflop:
Vil3 (UTG): folds
Vil4 (HJ): raises to 125k
Vil5 (CO): folds
Hero (But): calls
Vil10 (SB): calls
Vil2 (BB): calls

(4 players - 600k in pot)
Flop: 7h 5d 4c
(all players check)

(4 players - 600k in pot)
Turn: 7h 5d 4c 2d
(all players check)

(4 players - 600k in pot)
River: 7h 5d 4c 2d 8c
(all players check, including hero who thinks for a bit before checking)

Vil3: shows Kd Td 8d 5h (two pair)
Vil4 shows Ax 4x Xx Xx (low)
Hero: shows A4 (low)

Hero gets 1/4 pot.

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard.
Flop: This feels like a standard play. Hero does not really have a strong hand at this point, and hero may have best hand for high. There is little fold equity on a 3 low board.
Turn: Closer, but this actually could have been a steal spot. A 350k bet probably takes it down, as many players with A3 or 63 would bet.
River: Same as turn. Without hindsight being 20/20, there was a good chance hero may have been able to steal the whole pot.

---------------
Vil5 jokes that Vil2 should join the cash game afterwards. Vil2 was playing a huge range of hands.
Vil2's aggression was very high.

Vil3 triples up. Link: http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/update/1R4I/marco-johnson-triples-up/

Play started to get a bit tighter. No pots were contested more than HU.
It may be a function of the (relative) short stacks. While 5-8 BBs is a lot in PLO8, there seems to be a lot of ICM pressure for the short stacks.

One of hero's friends (Sean) tries to get an idea of ICMs. Hero shows stack and talks with friend during break.
Hero says that "It would be good to get 5th based on ICM".

---------------
Level 27 - Blinds: 25000/50000

Hero dealt in HJ: Ac Kc 8c 5x

Read: Hero was playing fairly tight.
(6 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10)
Preflop:
(folds to Hero)
Hero (HJ, ~400k): raises to 175k
(other players fold)

Analysis:
Preflop: Not normally a raise in HJ, but hero is playing off tight image. Hero is also short on chips (~8 BB), so that is why the raise is bigger.

Link: http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/update/1R4M/five-hands-four-winners-no-flops/

---------------
Hero dealt in BB: Ah 8x 8x 5h

(6 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10)
Preflop:
(folds to Vil2?)
Vil2 (HJ): raises to ???
(folds to Hero)
Hero (BB): folds

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. This is a weak hand to call.

(2 players - 100000 in pot)

Analysis:

Flop: Standard.

---------------
Level 27 - Blinds: 25000/50000

Hero dealt in BB?: Ah Kh Qx Jx

(5 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10)
Preflop:
Vil10 (UTG): raises to 100k
(folds to Hero)
Hero (BB): folds

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard. Hero has high only hand, and while there is a decent chance hero may scoop, hero also has no way of surviving with no low potential.

---------------

(5 handed, Seats 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10)
Preflop:

Hero talked with various friends who railed the entire time.

Hero is happy that a PLO8 player wins the bracelet. He seemed to play very well in hero's extended time playing together.
Hero was walking around and bumped into winner after hero talked with various friends.
Hero was able to see bracelet and talk to David and Angela who was railing throughout.
Hero asked if interview was required. The answer was no.

Hero also bumped into Rikard (who hero played with on day 1) sat payouts and thanked hero for a job well done.

Vil3 was also a tough opponent. Vil4 seemed to be fairly tough too.
Hero received a great complement that Hero was playing tough throughout.

---------------
Hero out in 5th of 732 entries.
This is hero's first WSOP Final Table.

Analysis/Thoughts:
Hero is thankful for the many friends (live and online) who helped hero especially throughout tournament.
Greg E, Francis, Sean, Steph, Steve, and others were very helpful throughout the day. It was also nice to get some quick shout outs from Benny, Angela, and others.

Hero is also happy with play, especially in day 3 when hero was sleep deprived and not feeling too well.
The field became quite tough towards the end, but that is to be expected with many PLO8 specialists as well as smarter mixed game players in the field.
