Non-Poker: Easily Chicago. I met up with the most number of people that weren't poker friends.
Best MTT venue: Horseshoe Hammond, Chicago - huge area
Best cash games: South Florida (except I didn't actually play any)
Best jazz music: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Softest MTT fields: STL & Tunica (tie)
Toughest MTT fields: New Orleans, LA
tightest travel deadlines:
runner up:
MEM -> ORD -> CLE
~20 min. to get to the plane, spanning many terminals as well.
It turns out I was given a 10 minute reprieve when flight crew was delayed.
1st place:
PBI -> ATL -> CLE
1st leg was late to get off due to waiting for taxi.
We got off plane at 9:30, and I had ~6 minutes to try to sprint 3 terminals.
I apparently missed my flight initially by ~30 seconds according to a maintenance worker, but was fortunate that the gate got "reopened" when pilot couldn't find his "gear".
Lessons Learned
1. Usually booking within the 3 week window is cheapest, but this seems to be demand and airline dependent.
2. Although it's ok to use National Car Rental w/ discount codes, beware that you could get blacklisted.
