It took the WSOP a really long time (compared to 2/1/2012, 1/24/2011, December prior to that year).
The WSOP's trend of adding more NLHE MTTs and decreasing everything else seems to continue...it's really sad as I was hoping to see some new non-NLHE MTT events (Big-O?). Although, I guess I'm not surprised since it's easier to get more entries with NLHE.
Specifically, I dislike that the speciality events are so spread out.
For previous couple years, it was nice that PLO8 events were strung together, PLO events were strung together, mixed game (HORSE/8-game/10-game) events strung together, etc...
examples of "spread out schedule" this year:
1. PLO8
6/17 - 1.5k PLO8
6/25 - 3k PLO8
2. mixed games
6/2 - 8 game
6/7 - HORSE
6/27 - 10 game
3. PLO
6/12 - 1.5k PLO
6/19 - 3k PLO
6/22 - 5k PLO/6-max
Summary of Changes:
(everything else remains the same, although some events got moved to earlier/later in the schedule)
1. no NLHE/PLO at all (HU event was really awesome last year, and the 2.5k PLH/PLO was really soft previously)
2. no mixed hold'em (limit, no limit)
3. only 1 stud-hi event - 2.5k stud instead of 1.5k stud & 5k stud
4. lower buyins for high rollers (5k+)
10K HORSE -> 5K HORSE
10K PLHE -> 5K PLHE
5. only 1 NL 2-7 Draw - 10k remains, but 1.5k eliminated
6. LHE changes: no LHE shootout, removed 3k LHE
(remaining LHE events: 1.5k LHE, 5k LHE, 2.5k LHE 6-max)
7. 2 new 6-max NLHE: 2.5k and 5k (to go with 1.5k/3k/10k)
8. 2-day Turbo NLHE
9. I don't feel like analyzing FR NLHE MTTs, that's the bulk of MTTs anyway
