Assorted Thoughts:
1A. A younger British poker player (T.) at one of the tables knew some German (Deutsch). This was a very classic comment as a couple of the players featured primarily German speakers: "Only English at the Tisch".
1B. Usually, only English (and native language) are allowed when cards are in the air.
2. Live Spin and Gos were interesting with the spinning wheel indicating prize values.
3. Mixed Games:
3A. Some players still do not know how to play mixed games.
3B. A couple did not know Badeucy/Badacey in Quintuple Draw including PS Pro.
3C. A couple players only knew LO8 in Splitsville.
4. Hero's choice to play the NLHE MTT Turbo in Rozvadov meant little to no sleep (~3 hours) on way back to USA.
5. Hero somewhat regrets not playing a NLHE MTT while in Malta. There were many opportunities after busting many of the early MTTs.
Dealers, Poker Tournament Floors/Directors, and Poker Media:
Ran into Big Andy (originally met in NOLA and was a big LHE player). He's from Omaha but married and moved to Switzerland.
Met Gaetano (who recognized me from WSOP Dealer's Choice). He was dealing in the EPTs.
French dealers were pitching cards differently. They were moving the deck to each player and taking top card off (similar to standard draw procedure, keeping the card close to the felt.
Hero ran into Troy and Steve in Rozvadov when there was little likelihood of meeting anyone. (Troy was first tournament director that hero met outside of LV when in NOLA for a week+ in 2010).
Hero ran into Tomas (photographer from EPT Malta) at Rozvadov.
One player from Malta also appeared in Rozvadov.
Poker Bling:
1. WSOP Europe lanyard.
2. PokerStars EPT branded COPAG plastic playing cards. Sadly, they only were available for one day and I only grabbed 4 :( They only had blue varieties, but red ones exist.
3. EPT Malta T-Shirt
4. PokerStars online qualifier bling (hero was able to ask towards end of festival and they said "don't tell anyone, but here's gear")
4A. PokerStars beach towel (red with stripes)
4A. Ipanema brand PokerStars flip flops (red spade on front of flip flop).
4B. PokerStars branded draw string bag.
5. PokerStars dealer's button/puck.
6. A less than official "dealer's choice" keyring with all the games using dry erase markers.
7. Hero did not get an all in triangle. (all in triangles are common in Europe) or a PokerStars cut card.
8. Miscellaneous patches
I work for PokerStars.
