According to the TD, they were dealing super stud hi/low in this format:
UK common format: Deal 4 cards, discard one, then roll your own up card.
US common format (during WSOP mixed games): Deal 5 cards with 1 up card, then discard 2 cards if player continues past 3rd street.

However, hero noted that the post indicated otherwise (from 2p2 and answered by  PSLiveNeil):

Hi PSLive Toby. I was reviewing structure sheets and it looks like there are some random typos or inconsistent things. Some of the structure sheets look like they were cut off. Some do not list betting limits.

Q: Super Stud Hi/Low - Are players dealt 5 cards, discard 2 and roll your own up card like in these rules:http://www.barge.org/rules/superstud8.html
It seems like there is sometimes inconsistent rules which is why I ask.
A: SS - We are playing Super Stud with 4 down and 1 up. Players will not be able to choose their up card, it will automatically be the 5th card they receive.

Analysis:
3rd Street: Standard.
4th Street: Standard.
5th Street: Hero has some scoop outs and peels 5th street.
6th Street: This could be a fold on 6th since villain's board is rather scary (78 in hole = strong equity for example)
7th Street: Hero would not be able to beat a bluff.

Vil2: (Xx Xx) Ax 2x Tx __checks__folds
Hero: (7c 5d) 6h 3s 3x __bets

Analysis:
3rd Street: Hero could reraise as well with somewhat strong starting hand, but an 8 is dead and pot controlling to limit being tied to pot is best with shallow stacks in tournament.
4th Street: Standard.
5th Street: When checked by both villains who bricked and decent board for hero, hero bets with decent chance to scoop. Both villains fold.

---------------
Hero saw Vil1 and Vil6 get into tangle in 5 stud.
Hero does not remember board, but seat 1 bet/3 bet on 5th street and Vil6 folds. Vil1 said he had at least a pair.

---------------
Hero's stack at Level 6 break: 15,100 @ 600/1200 limits

At the break, the tournament director (David?) relayed the proper super stud hi/low rules to all players. It will be dealt 4 down and 1 up.

7th Street:
Hero: (8x 7x) 8x Ax Tx 2x (7x) __bets
Vil6: (Xx Xx) 3x Tx Qx 7x (Xx) __folds

Analysis:
4th Street: Hero's board was fairly strong with A and low against a brick hand.
5th Street: Both player's boards missed. Hero decides to keep pressure on other player.
6th Street: Hero picks up some backdoor scoop potential.
7th Street: This is a bet/fold spot. Villain would raise good 2 pairs or better.

Hero's stack: 18k

Vil1: Shows Ax Ax 8x for Aces
Hero: mucks

Analysis:
3rd Street: Hero decides to over-represent hand with a very live flush draw and likely overs.
4th Street: Hero continues aggression even though both boards improve.
5th Street: Villain's check indicates weakness. Hero decides to bet and try to take it down, but gets check/raised. At the time, hero should have thought about ranges more. Hero decides to try to get into showdown mode with flush + overs.
6th Street: Hero's confused by hand and slows down aggression.
7th Street: Hero bets, but this is likely a leak. Villain is likely in call down mode as well.

Hero's stack: 13k

Vil6: (Xx Xx) 3x 8x Kx Tx Xx __checks

Vil6: Shows pair of aces.
Hero: mucks.

Analysis:
3rd Street: Standard.
4th Street: Hero has a likely better low board than villain (and possibly high). Standard.
5th Street: Hero has little fold equity other than applying pressure. This is a good spot to check.
6th Street: Hero likely has best draw both ways and bets for value.
7th Street: Hero bricks on end and checks since there is little fold equity. Hero is likely check/folding since villain is probably only betting 2 pair or better.

4th Street:
Vil4: (Xx Xx) 7x 5x __bets
Hero: (Ax 3x) 4x 4x __folds

Analysis:
3rd Street: Hero decides to isolate to show aggression and for value.
4th Street: Hero bricks and folds. The pot was not reraised on 3rd, so hero gives up on pot. There is merit in continuing though since villain limped in a steal position. Villain may have brick in hole (and equity is flipping with hero).

Vil3: (Xx) 4x __brings in__folds
Vil4: (Xx) 9x __folds
Hero: (Kx) 5x __completes
Vil6: (Xx) 7x __folds

Analysis:
2nd Street: Villain could have reraised seat 4 if villain was stealing often. This is a good spot to steal with ok equity if called.

(2 players - 2 2/3 big bets in pot)
5th Street:
Vil1: (Xx Xx) Ax 5x 5x __bets
Hero: (2d Jd) Td 2x 8d __folds

Analysis:
3rd Street: Hero has live flush draw and continues. Standard.
4th Street: 3 flush and pair is ok to continue.
5th Street: This is a tight fold. Hero picks up the 4 flush and pair, but is concerned a bit that hero is drawing very thin to a villain's Jacks up or better. Villain could barrel a ton though on every street OOP, so maybe this is a spot to peel on all streets and fold without getting 2p+ (and raising with trips and flushes).

Vil6: (Xx Xx) 7x Tx Ax __bets

In previous hands when Vil6 was all in, hero was supportive.
Vil6 starts talking a lot and giving verbal cues saying to fold. Vil6 was also pointing to the Ace to say to fold.
Hero thinks for a while and was seriously contemplating folding.
Hero then decides to call saying "hero does not have many chips left" and calls for tournament life.

Vil6: shows (7x 7x) 7x Tx Ax

Hero: (Kx 6x) Kx 8x 4x Xx (not a king) and doesn't look at rest of hand.
Vil6: (7x 7x) 7x Tx Ax Ax (Xx)

Hero does not remember board run out, but does not even spike a sweat.

Analysis:
3rd Street: Standard complete, but reraise is a bit scary. Hero is a bit short, so maybe villain just wants to get stacks in.
4th Street: Same as 3rd.
5th Street: Even with Kings up, villain's talking was a huge siren bell. Ace is also a bad 5th street card.
Villain was probably being honest since hero was showing support earlier when Vil6 was all in.
Hero should have heeded advice and folded to live another hand.
This was definitely a live spew for tournament life.
