125 PLO8 with Rebuys MTT at Commerce

$125 PLO8 MTT with $100 rebuys.
2500 starting chips with 2500 chip rebuys when stack <= 2500. 5000 chip add on after 4 levels.
Blinds start at 25/50.

---------------
Player Reads (first table 46):

1 middle aged guy
2 old guy - SF cap
3 young guy
4 guy with cap
5 middle aged 30's male (younger Asian player Chris who I saw at the NLO8 MTT)
6 old guy
7 old guy with glasses
8 old guy
9 hero

---------------
Twitter note (level 3 @ 75/150: 5 way all in. One guy scoops with big stack. 2s 3s 9c jh kd. Top set no low. Nut low and qt. Bottom Two pair and nut flush draw. 93xx

Hero may have violated "poker etiquette", but it absolutely seemed like the right thing to do. In a spot where 2 villains thought they were scooping, hero looked at board a couple times, then cringed.
Immediately, player in seat 6 saw my reaction as the cards were being shuffled and noted that something was wrong. Thankfully, chips were given to the rightful owners.

Hero was inactive in first couple levels. Hero stole a small pot here and there, but nothing substantial.

Stack at first break: 13000 at 200 300

---------------
Blinds: 200/300

Stack sizes range from ~3k-20k

Hero dealt in EP: Ah Qc Tc 5h

Preflop:
Hero raises in EP to 800
3 villains call
BB (3k): calls

(5 players - 4000 in pot)
Flop: Qx 3c 2x
BB: checks
Hero bets 3000
3 folds
short stacked villain: calls AI

villain shows: Ad 8x 8x 5d

Flop: Qx 3c 2x Jc 5c

Hero chops pot.

Analysis:
Preflop: This might be a loose open in EP.
Flop: With effective stack sizes around 3, hero can bet/call on a rainbow board with tptk, gutshot, bdfd, and 2nd nut low draw. Even against a set, hero's equity is decent. Also, it counterfeits many villain's A2/A3 holdings, so there's lots of fold equity..

---------------
Sigh. Hero lock wheel on turn only gets half when calling station boats up. Sigh.

Stacks: 10k effective

Vil4: likely a calling station from previous HH

Hero dealt in MP: Ad 6c 5h 2s

Preflop:
Vil5 (UTG): raises to 1000
hero: calls
Vil4: calls

(3 players - 3000 in pot)
Flop: Ax 3x Jh
Vil4: checks
Vil5: checks
Hero: bets 2000
Vil4: calls
Vil5: folds

(2 players - 7000 in pot)
Turn: Ax 3x Jh 4h
Vil4: checks
Hero: bets 4500
Vil4: calls

River: Ax 3x Jh 4h 4d
Vil4: donk bets 5000 (all in)
Hero: calls

Vil5 shows: Ax Kx 4x 2x

Analysis:
Flop: This may have been a speculative bet with top pair, gutshot wrap in position.
Turn: Hero bets for value (standard). Hero wants to price out flush draw too.
River: Hero has to call. Many hands are chopping with the very occassional hero gets 3/4ed.

---------------
Blinds: 200/400
Hero had t752r in BB. 986r and got raised by decent player. 2h brings flush draw. 5 offsuit river. Villain had th 7s 5h 3h. 7400 from 14800.

Vil6 had hero covered and seemed to "understand O8" but was becoming very loose preflop. Villain had amassed ~25k at this point.

Hero dealt in BB: T752r

Preflop:
Vil6 (CO): limped
Vil7 (But): limped
Vil8 (SB): called
Hero: checked

(4 players - 1600 in pot)
Flop: 9h 8c 6d 2h 5s
Vil8: checks
Hero: bets 1000
Vil6: raises to 3000
Vil7: folds
Vil8: folds
Hero: thinks for a bit, thinks about grabbing chips, then calls

(2 players - 7600 in pot)
Turn: 9h 8c 6d 2h 5s
Hero: checks
Vil6: bets 5000
Hero: calls

River: 9h 8c 6d 2h 5s
Hero: bets 6200
Vil6: calls

Vil6: Shows Th 7s 5h 3h
Vil6 gets 3/4 pot

Analysis:
Flop: Hero thought about grabbing chips and reraising, but decided to just call.
Hero could be getting freerolled by (higher straights, straights with low draws, straights with back door flush draw, etc...). Additionally, it's not for value.
Turn: Hero fears freeroll and just calls.
River: This was a horrible misplay. Hero easily should have check/called. This seems like a really odd spot to just shove. Hero doesn't like the way hand played out and had no reason to believe villain will fold worse hands (as there's no counterfeited low/no flushes).
Hero should have realized that villain's raising range on flop is the same nut hand + (likely lows) + freerolls. Few villains would raise 2p+nut low (which still is bad for hero anyway)

Hero's stack: 7400

---------------
Blinds: 200/400

Hero dealt in MP: Ah Ax Kh 4d

Preflop:
1 limper
Hero in MP: raises to 1500
BB: calls
limper: calls

(3 players - 4700 in pot)
Flop: Qx 7x 2h

BB: checks
limper: checks
Hero: bets all in (4300)
limper: calls

limper: calls with AQTT (ATs)

Board: Qx 7x 2h 9c Jc

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard to raise with decent AAw.
Flop: Overpair + 2nd nut low + BDFD + possible fold equity of villain A2. Hero was happy to see villain's call with no low possible...

Hero doubles up to ~15k

---------------
Hero dealt in CO: Ac 8c 4d 3c

Preflop:
2 limps
1 player raises in EP to 1000
Hero: calls
SB: folds
BB: calls
2 limpers call

(4 players - 4000 in pot)
Flop: 7x 5c 4c
all players check flop

(4 players - 4000 in pot)
Turn: 7x 5c 4c 8c

(3 players - 7600 in pot)
River: 7x 5c 4c 8c Jd
Vil3: checks
Vil4: checks
Hero bets 5900
Vil3: folds
Vil4: calls

Vil4: shows A2xx (nut low/no pair)

Hero chops pot

Hero's stack: 16200

Analysis:
Flop: Hero decided to play nut flush draw/1p on 3 low straight board slowly. Hero doesn't really have equity in this spot and will only really get called by better hands.
Turn: Hero decides to try to keep as many people in the pot as possible (to extract value from nut high). Hero accepts the risk of board pairing river and wants to play optimally to get most chips from other players.
River: Hero bets for value.

---------------
Blinds: 300/600

Hero dealt on button: Ad Jc 4d 2s

Vil4: ~15k (older, tighter, likely nitty)
Vil5: ~20k (older player)
Vil6: ~40k (maniac)

Preflop:
Vil5: calls
Vil6: calls
folds to hero
Hero: raises to 2000
Vil4 (BB): (older player): calls

Maybe misread physical tell and should have prepared to double barrel turn river as pfr. Sigh.
9829 hero picks up nut flush draw with aj42 and hero in position against 3 villains.

(4 players - 8300 in pot)
Flop: 9s 2d 8h
all players check

(4 players - 8300 in pot)
Turn: 9s 2d 8h 9d
Vil4: had chips in hand, then checks
Vil5: checks
Vil6: checks
Hero: Thinks for a bit, then decides to check back b/c of physical tell

(4 players - 8300 in pot)
River: 9s 2d 8h 9d Kc
all players check

Vil4: shows a K and wins pot.

Analysis:
Preflop: Raise for value.
Flop: Hero could cbet here, but it's rare for it to be successful 4 way.
Turn: Online, this is a 2 barrel bet/fold on almost all high cards (and maybe some low enabling river cards like a 3). The physical tell (older villain in seat 4 who had stack of chips in hand, then checked with stack) unfortunately swayed it.
River: Without barrel on flop, very unlikely to barrel river
After talking with friend about it, it may have been more prudent to just give up b/c hero would need to bluff off entire stack.

---------------
Hero's stack at 2nd break:
10800 @ 400/800

---------------
Shortly after the break:

Hero dealt in MP: Ah Qc Jh 2c

Preflop:
2 limpers
Hero: raises
Vil4 (BB): calls
2 limpers: calls

(4 players - 8400 in pot)
Flop: Ks Qd 5s
Vil4: checks
Vil?: checks
Vil?: checks
Hero: bets all in
Vil4: calls
Vil?: folds
Vil?: folds

Vil4: Shows As Kc 8s 7s

Turn: Ks Qd 5s 6h
River: Ks Qd 5s 6h 2d

Hero fortunately backs into half.

Analysis:
Preflop: This seemed fine to raise for value and be able to commit on many flops.
Flop: This was a rather spewy flop bet. Hero should have checked back flop and jammed a A/Q/JT or low turn that wasn't a spade against 4 players.

---------------
Table move:
Hero was briefly moved to 2nd table, but there were no hands of note. Hero's table was broken and moved to a 3rd table.

---------------
Hero's stack: 9700 @ 500/1000

Hero pays some more blinds. Table breaks after hero just paid blinds at 400 800. Hero moves into BB and immediately pay 500 1000 blinds.

---------------
3rd table:

1 old guy
2 young guy with goatee
3 old guy with glasses - seemed to be station (from previous table)
4 old Indian male with glasses
5 Indian male with no glasses
6 Chris - younger (20s-30s) Asian male who seemed very competent. Example: He was mad he lost huge chunk of stack with A53x on Q42r
7 old guy with sunglasses
8 hero
9 middle aged guy with pony tail

---------------
Hero dealt in MP: Ac 4c 3d 2s.
Hero limped behind a couple limpers
Flop: Q96 rainbow (hero has no FD)
Hero check/folds flop.

Hero dealt in EP: Ad 6d 6c 3h

Preflop:
Hero: limps
Vil?: raises to 3000
Vil?: reraises to 8500
Hero folds...

Hero's stack: 7700

---------------
Blinds: 500/1000
Stack sizes:
Hero has shortest stack (9700).
Other players had ~16k+

Hero in CO: Dealt Ac 8h 7d 2s

Preflop:
MP (Vil5): limps
HJ (Vil7): limps
Hero: limps
But: folds
SB (Vil1): calls
BB (Vil2): calls

(5 players - 4000 in pot)
Flop: Kh 6d 3c

(5 players - 4000 in pot)
Turn: Kh 6d 3c 7c
Vil1: leads for 2000

(5 players - 12000 in pot)
River: Kh 6d 3c 7c 3h
Vil1: checks
Vil2: checks
Vil5: checks
Vil7: bets pot (12k)
Hero calls all in for 5500
Vil1: thinks for some time, then folds
Vil2: thinks for a while, then folds
Vil5: is in the tank for a long time, then folds

Vil1, Vil2, and hero talk about hand strengths, likely saying it's a boat...
Vil7: Shows A62x

Hero gets 3/4 of pot.

Analysis:
Preflop: It's kinda questionable to call with a very marginal A2. But, it shaped up to be a 4-5 player multi-way pot, so it's a bit better.
Flop/Turn/River: Hero's play was to be passive entire way. Fold equity was small, especially on turn.
Vil7's play was really great in this spot. It was sad that villain actually got quartered in the spot (but actually got some small number of chips overall)

Hero's stack: 14100

---------------
CO = hero's stack of ~14k
SB = Vil1 (~40k)
BB = Vil2 (chip leader, ~60k)

Hero dealt in CO: As Jc 7d 3s

Preflop:
Hero: raises to 2800
SB: calls
BB: calls

(3 players - 8400 in pot)
Flop: Ac 3c Qd
Vil1: checks
Vil2: checks
Hero: bets 4200
Vil1: calls
Vil2: calls

Turn: Ac 3c Qd Qh
Vil1: checks
Vil2: checks
Hero: bets 5400 all in
Vil1: calls

Vil1: Shows TT42r

River: Ac 3c Qd Qh 9s
(hero doesn't remember river card, but doesn't fill low or is a T).

Hero scoops.

Analysis:
Preflop: Standard open raise.
Flop: With hero's stack, top and bottom pair is a likely committing hand.
Turn: Board pair might get villain to fold many draws.

---------------
Hero's stack:
24700 800 1600 after double up just before break.

---------------
Got quartered. Hero turned nut flush draw. 8k around 800 1600 level.

Effective stacks: ~24k
Vil7 is same villain who got quartered.

Hero dealt in LP: Ah Jh 5d 2s

Preflop:
(folds to Vil7)
Vil7: limps
folds to hero
Hero: calls
SB: folds
BB: folds

(3 players - 5600 in pot)
Flop: 9c 7h 4d
BB: checks
Villain bets 5k
Hero: calls
BB: folds

(2 players - 15600 in pot)
Turn: 9c 7h 4d 8h
Vil7: bets 10000
Hero: raises all villain all in for ~8k more
Vil7: calls

Vil7: shows AK72 dd

River: 9c 7h 4d 8h 5s

Hero gets quartered.

Analysis:
Preflop: Hero could isolate raise, but hero decides to play small pot in position. Vil7 already seemed to know hero's range was tight in general
Flop: This seems ok to see what happens on the turn with backdoor flush draw + nut low draw.
Turn: Hero semi-bluff jams for fold equity (as it can rep a low straight, although the low got there too).

Balance is normal in the world. Hero joked about the situation. It is the same player who was quartered earlier in the MTT by hero.

---------------
Blinds: 800/1600

Hero's stack: ~18k

Hero dealt in CO: Ah Kh 6x 2x

Preflop:
Vil2 (chip leader): limps
Vil4?: limps
Hero: raises to 4500
folds to Vil2
Vil2: raises to ~18k (putting hero all in)
Vil4?: folds
Hero tanked for a while, thinking about equity against AAw, then calls

Vil2: shows AAJ4 (A4 suited)

Board: Ks 7c 2s 9c 5c

Hero gets 1/2 pot.

Analysis:
After 2011 WSOP PLO8 event, hero really worked hard on this equity calculation.
If perceived range (ex) tight player) is heavily weighted towards AAwx (AA2/AA3)
ABww - marginal call (~37% equity | ~43% out of MTT)
ABBW - fold (~35% equity | 46% scoop out of MTT)

Villain's range is very heavily skewed to AAw...
One villain noted hero's patience/thought processes on this particular hand and complimented on really thinking through the situation and equity.

---------------
A similar situation happens 2 rotations later.

Hero dealt in MP: As Ks 6d 4c

Preflop:
UTG (Vil2): limps
(folds to hero on button)
Hero: decides to call this time...

Flop: Xx Xx Xx
Hero ends up check/folding flop.

Analysis:
Hero's stack size is similar. Honestly, it should have followed the same criteria: bet/call. Hero can isolate and villain's limped a couple other times in EP as well. Thus, villain's range is wide, but hero can raise for value against UTG's weaker holdings and build a pot.

---------------
Hero's stack: ~13k
Hero dealt in BB: Qc Tc 9x 4x

Preflop:
3 limpers
SB: folds
Hero: checks

(4 players - 7500 in pot)
Flop: Tc 7c 3c
Hero donk bets ~5k
Villains: fold

Analysis:
Flop: Hero wins a decent sized pot for effective stack when flopping a decent hand. It seems nitty to bet/fold in this spot, but it might be correct as it's rare for players with hero's stack size to bet/fold...

---------------
Hero dealt in SB: Ac 9x 4x 2c

Preflop:
2 limpers
Vil6: limps
Hero: completes
Vil1 (BB): checks

(5 players - 10k in pot)
Flop: Jd 5c 3c
Hero: checks
Vil1: bets ~8k
Vil6: calls
Hero: calls

(3 players - 34k in pot)
Turn: Jd 5c 3c Ks
both players check

(3 players - 34k in pot)
River: Jd 5c 3c Ks 5h
both players check

Vil1: Shows A994 (94 suited) with missed flush draw
Vil6: A882

Hero out in 28th.

Analysis:
Preflop: This is perfectly ok to just complete. Hero's AIPF equity with a low hand is not great. There's also little fold equity with 2 limpers.
Flop: Hero mistake! This is a mandatory bet as a semi-bluff. Hero check/calling may not be best. Villains will likely call with ranges, but hero could easily fold out other hands.

---------------
Hero: 28/136 runners, 15 pay
323 rebuys

Analysis: This field was slightly tougher than the previous NLO8 MTT, but overall was relatively soft field.
Additionally, Vil6 ends up winning entire MTT.
